Scavenger Hunt

The Year 3s went on a scavenger hunt around the school as a stimulating experience for our writing at the end of term 1. It was so exciting, we had a blast!

Swimming at Papatoetoe Pools

We had so much fun at the pools in Term 1- for some of us it was gaining confidence in the water, some learning new skills and others building on existing ones, but most of all having a great time!

We're really excited about the Pasifika Showcase in Week 10 and have been learning new Niuean songs in preparation for the big day.  The links for the songs are below if you wish to help your child learn the lyrics!

Welcome to Room 28's class blog!

Welcome back to a new year. Keep checking in for exciting things to come!
We are a brand new Year 3 class of 26 students. We're culturally rich coming from a range of backgrounds - Indian, Vietnamese, NZ Maori as well as NZ European, African, Tongan and Samoan yet we celebrate that we are all New Zealanders!

Term Value: Being PCS: Our mantra - Being Polite, Considerate and Sensible kicks off term one - We are committed to being polite citizens and use our manners - saying "Please, Thank you, Excuse me and I'm sorry" when respective situations arises. We want to ensure we think of others and behave kindly. We also want to make good choices that reflect being sensible.

Being A New Zealander: This year we're looking at our local community and learn what it means to be a citizen of Papatoetoe. Watch this space - we'll post a class photo very soon! Happy New Year everyone!

PCS Junior Cross Country 2016

Today, we had the perfect weather for our annual cross country run. The Year 3s ran 2 laps of the mapped out course which was no easy feat. They really put in the effort and showed determination. Congratulations to all for participating and completing the run - that's what it's all about. Well done to the first 3 runners through the finish line in particular Kieran from Room 28 - we're proud of you all.

Our Amazing Trip to Howick Historical Village 2016

On Friday 4 March, Room 28 went on an invaluable trip back in time! We stepped off the bus and walked into a completely different era of NZ in the mid 1800s. Howick Historical Village was a great kick start to our topic studies on Colonial NZ. We all had a taste (literally) and more about what our country was like and how people lived. It was a great eye opener for us all and we had so much fun!
We would especially like to thank the staff at the Village and all our parent helpers.
Check out our slide show...hopefully more to come!
